5 Basic Laboratories for a Biomedical student

Every Biomedical Engineering students have thought to become the best Biomedical Engineer in the Competitive Biomedical Market, In the Four years of engineering, the faculties are supposed to give enough amount of theoretical knowledge and also the practical knowledge, here we listed out some of the most important and basic laboratories that every biomedical Engineer should need

1. Basic electronics and devices lab

Basic electronics and devices lab

This laboratory includes the basic electrical and electronic parts such as a resistor, capacitor, inductor, transformer, transistor, potentiometer etc and the basic circuit such as instrumentation and various amplifier circuits, power supply circuits, bridge circuits, logic gates, processor and controller basic programmes etc it will help the students to know about the basic laws, principles, theories and functions of all the basic electronic and electrical components.

2. Basic haematology lab

Basic haematology lab

Haematology is a branch if a study about the medical terminology of human blood and its studies, lab section includes some basic tools and kits such as blood grouping kit, haemocytometer, haemoglobin meter, centrifuge, auto analyser, weighing balance, erythrocyte sedimentation analyzer etc, it will help the students to know about the real nature and functions of blood and its characteristics.

3. Biomedical instrumentation lab

Biomedical instrumentation lab

This is the lab that includes some minor to major functionality and analysis of basic instrumentation and its tools used in the hospital, it includes, various types of electrodes and its functions, basic and vital measurements of humans for example blood pressure, pulse rate, heart rate, lung volume etc and also the vital parameter signal analysis of ECG, EEG, EMG, Heart rate variability etc, it will help the students to gain knowledge about the basic medical terminology and its usage.

4. Diagnostic equipment lab

 Diagnostic equipment lab

This is the kind of laboratory which includes some basic biomedical equipment like patient monitoring system, spirometer, sphygmomanometer, audiometer etc, it will help the students to calibrate all the basic equipment used in the hospital and also to know about the process of troubleshooting the equipment. The students are supposed to study the theories about all the equipment and they gained their practical information from this laboratory.

5. Therapeutic equipment lab

Therapeutic equipment lab

Once the students get familiarised about the basic diagnostic tools and then they were advised to gain the knowledge in basic therapeutic products such as diathermy, ultrasound machine, electrical muscle stimulator etc it will help the students to use the equipment to the patient and treat the patient’s illness.
