In modern healthcare, there is a lot of devices, and implants are considered life-saving device. According to medical devices, a defibrillator, ventilator, blood warmer heart-lung machine, and oxygen concentrator are the critical care equipment, which is partially placed into the patient. Apart from that, the Advancement of the biomedical field evolved medical implants, which are implanted into patients through surgery. Medical implants help to extend and improve the quality of life

Implants:

Medical implants are small medical devices used to replace or support the damaged biological structure of the human body. Generally, some of the implants contain electronics.

Ex: Pacemaker, Cochlear Implant. Some implants are bioactive, which is made up of biomaterials. Ex: Coronary stent, Implantable pills, Dental implants

Classification:

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has to classify medical devices into three categories such as Class I, Class II, and Class III. Most of the medical implants come under the Class II and Class III categories.

Lifespan:

Based on the implant type lifespan will be varied. The life span of dental implants is approximately at least 25 years, Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator is approximately 10 years like that.
